Am I suitable for Quick Straight Teeth orthodontic treatment?

If your teeth are crowded or overlapping at the front, Quick Straight Teeth orthodontic treatment could work for you.  You may have had orthodontic treatment in your teens and your previously straightened teeth have moved back toward their original position.  If so Quick Straight Teeth orthodontic treatment could help.  However we are able to offer additional orthodontic treatments if your case is a little more complex.

Quick Straight Teeth – Your Questions Answered

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with tooth straightening.  If you are thinking of straightening your teeth, you probably have lots of questions.  Here are a few we often get asked by patients.  But you are welcome to call us for a chat if there is something we have not covered here!

How long will the treatment take?

How long you will need to wear your orthodontic brace for totally depends on your teeth.  We will give you a good idea of how long you will wear your braces during your first consultation.  The average treatment time with Quick Straight Teeth is between 3-9 months.  So you shouldn’t have to wait long for your new smile!

What will I look like wearing my brace?

Quick Straight Teeth orthodontic braces are clear and streamlined so they hardly show.  Some people say they’ve gone through their whole treatment without anyone noticing.  Even if someone does notice you’re wearing a brace, it’s not unusual these days, and they probably won’t bat an eyelid.

Is Quick Straight Teeth safe?

Quick Straight Teeth is as safe as any other orthodontic braces treatment.  There are potential dental health risks as with all orthodontic treatment.  Quick Straight Teeth has been used in over 5,000 procedures without any reported problems.  At Sedgefield Dental Practice, your dental health is our priority and we will do everything we can to make your treatment as safe as possible.  Follow our advice and you should have no problems.

How often will I have to wear my braces?

You probably want straight teeth fast, which is why Quick Straight Teeth is so appealing.  To make it work, barely visible fixed braces are bonded to your teeth for the duration of your treatment.  Fixed orthodontic braces work 24/7.

Aligners – You need to wear your aligners all the time – except when you are eating, drinking, brushing or flossing your teeth.  The ideal length of time to wear these is a minimum of 20 hours each day.  Aligners only work when you are wearing them!

How often will I see my dentist?

Patients usually come back for adjustments every 2-4 weeks.  We will be able to give you a more accurate answer before you start your treatment.

Sedgefield Dental Practice is open 9am-8.30pm Monday and Tuesday, 9am-5pm Wednesday and 8.15am-5.15pm Thursday and Friday so it should be easy to fit your appointments around your life.

There is free on-street parking for up to 2 hours right outside the practice.

How much does it cost?

It really depends on your teeth and what is needed to get your teeth where you want them to be.  As a rough guide Quick Straight Teeth orthodontic prices start from £1048.00 per arch (top row of teeth or bottom row of teeth).  The best thing to do is to come and talk to us about having braces so we can give you a definite cost.

Will my braces hurt?

Your orthodontic braces might make your teeth feel uncomfortable for a few days at the start of each new stage of your treatment.  This is a good sign, completely normal because it means your braces are working.  Continuous gentle forces are acting on your teeth.  After a day or two, your teeth will adjust and the pressure from your brace will be less noticeable.  Sometimes people take a mild over the counter pain killer, but most don’t need to.  We get no complaints about severe or long term pain.

Can I only eat certain foods with a brace?

Good news – you can eat your usual meals and snacks during your treatment.  Use the cutlery and cut your food up small.  Your teeth may be a little bit sensitive, so you’ll want to take care when eating hard things.  Other than that, you can eat pretty much what you like, avoiding sticky foods.  Sticky foods are well known for wrecking braces.  Fizzy drinks are very acidic and will dissolve your teeth around brace components leaving unsightly marks on the teeth.  Avoid fizzy drinks completely.

What about chewing gum?

Gum will stick to your braces and damage them.  Remember if the food is hard, sticky, claggy, or chewy there is a significant risk of damaging your braces, prolonging treatment.

Will the treatment affect my speech?

Your orthodontic brace should not affect how you sound when you talk.  Having something in your mouth might feel a bit strange at first, but you will get used to it quickly.

Can I smoke during the treatment?

If you smoke, you’ll lose the advantage of wearing almost invisible braces because the braces will stain and stand out.  So why not make now the time to give up smoking.

How I do I keep my teeth straight after treatment?

You should wear any retainer we advise following your treatment.  Retainers are usually made from a clear, thin, light plastic and fit snugly over your teeth.  Worn for 8-10 hours a night they prevent age related changes to the jaw bones moving teeth out of position.  Retainers need replacing periodically.

How long should I keep wearing my retainer?

As long as you want your teeth to stay straight!  Age related changes to the jaws can occur from your mid-teens to at least your 60’s causing teeth to move.  Long term retention will minimise the chances of any undesirable tooth movements after Quick Straight Teeth orthodontic treatment.
